CAFOD becomes project partner of Memory4Teachers
The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development - CAFOD is delighted to become a partner of Memory 4 Teachers Campaign.
The agency, works with communities in over 50 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. It supports people, regardless of race, gender, religion or nationality, to find their own solutions to poverty.
A crucial aspect of CAFOD`s work is sharing knowledge and experiences with people in England and Wales, and CAFOD`s education team utilises everything from schemes of work and volunteer visits to exhibitions, games, photo packs, theatre and a film competition to provide engaging resources for teachers and students, with the aim of presenting the reality of life in the developing world.
Jo Kitterick, CAFOD`s head of education said “CAFOD`s core values are that we work together to overcome poverty and injustice, and it’s essential that this involves working with our next generation of leaders here, helping them with their understanding of global poverty, injustice, and what we can all do about it.
“The Memory for Teachers stick will be an excellent tool and we`re really proud to be able to contribute to something that will provide direct support for teachers. Many of us in the education team have been in the profession ourselves, so we fully appreciate how valuable the Memory for Teachers stick will be.
“We`re really excited about developing our resources for this format. It`s a great opportunity for us to be creative and really offer stimulating, unique content with strong voices from our partners in the global south, in the knowledge that it will literally be in the pocket of the nation`s educators. I believe that this project will really empower teachers and consequently their students, and we`re fully supportive of anything that can help young people with their knowledge of international development”.
