Woburn Abbey Education Programme
Guided tours of the Abbey with our specialist educators are an excellent way to see the house and its contents in a completely different way. All tours last approximately 1 hr 15 minutes.

HISTORY TOUR
An investigation of the rooms of the Abbey and how the lives of the people who have lived there are very different to our lives today.
STORY TOUR
Every room at the Abbey has its own story and this tour brings each room to life with their own tales to tell, ranging from the famous Flying Duchess to a visit from Queen Victoria.

ART AT WOBURN*
Taking a closer look at the stunning art works that are housed at Woburn Abbey and the artists who created them.
Educator led sessions in the Abbey classroom are designed to be fun, interactive and curriculum-focused. All sessions include opportunities for hands-on experiences with props and historical artefacts.
TALE OF TWO CHILDREN
A story based session comparing the lives to two children in Victorian times; one child is very wealthy and the other child works as a servant. An interactive session where children join in, use costumes and help tell the story.
TALES OF WOBURN
Focusing on three real life events from Woburn's history, children are encouraged to participate by retelling the stories and performing as the colourful characters.
SEEDS AND PLANTS*
A closer look at seeds, growth of plants and different plant species. A workshop based in the Abbey Gardens taking a close look at seeds, growth of plants and different plant species. Children plant their own seeds and can watch them grow back in the classroom.
The Lonely Tree at Woburn Abbey (2 hour workshop) £40
‘The Lonely Oak' by Nicholas Halliday has been specially adapted for Woburn Abbey. This unique interactive session includes a reading of the story, a visit to Woburn's Lonely Oak and activities on lifecycles, history and story telling. This story links to both history and science topics. Children are encouraged to use their imagination and creativity in this session.
THEN AND NOW - WHAT WE FIND IN THE HOUSE*
This session would look at the way in which people lived in times gone by compared with life now.
VICTORIANS*
A look at life in Victorian Britain, what it would have been like to live and work at Woburn Abbey during this time and what key events occurred during this period.
TUDORS*
A look at life during the Tudor times, what it would have been like to live and work at Woburn Abbey during this time and what key events went on during this period.
WOBURN DURING THE WAR
In this session discover what happened at Woburn during the Second World War and what life was like for the people here at that time.
MEDICINE IN HISTORY*
Find out in this session about the use and role of medication throughout history, the different treatments used and discover the link between Woburn Abbey and nursing.
HISTORY AROUND US*
Discuss the influence of the people who have lived here and the role Woburn Abbey has played in shaping the local area for centuries.
WOBURN ABBEY AND ITS VISITORS*
A closer look at how Woburn Abbey is run as a visitor attraction and covering the following areas operational issues, health and safety, visitor profile, PEST and SWOT analysis, customer service and future developments.

A closer look at who are visitors are, the 4Ps in relation to Woburn Abbey and market research.
